On the north coast of Gozo, just west of Malsalforn, the coast is characterised by a scenic panorama of rock-cut saltpans. These 350-year-old salt pans stretch about 3km along the coast. They are part of the old Gozitan family tradition of Sea-Salt production which has been carried out for many generations. During the summer months, you can still enjoy some locals scraping up the crystals of salt. The salt is collected, stored and processed in the caves that have been carved into the coastal rock.
